Once the council has finished preparing and consulting on the Local Plan it will be submitted to the Secretary of State who will appoint an Inspector to carry out an independent examination.
Public Examination and Main Modifications

The Inspector will examine the Local Plan to ensure that it meets legal requirements and the ‘tests of soundness’ set out in national policy. This may lead to modifications being consulted on to address any problems identified by the Inspector
Adoption

Once adopted the Local Plan will form part of the Development Plan for Waverley alongside made neighbourhood plans and will be used when determining planning applications in the Borough.
